What is Semi pro studio?

A semi professional studio with 2 separated spaces – control room and recording room. With Semi pro studio, user will have the experience of a professional filmmaker with 4K camera and 2 other different angle cameras, a separated voice recording line. Moreover, in control room, user would have chances to use mixer, light controlling device a two big monitors. That is not all, user can edit and have the final product right in the studio with 2 advanced PC contains editing software.

What can you do with the Semi Pro Studio?

A video with 4K quality or filming a professional interview, all can be done with Semi Pro Studio with 1 4K quality centered camera and 3 other different angles supported. Filming a report video with the style of a reporter is now easy with a whole green background and a prompter integrated with the camera. Also with a separate audio line, this studio can be used for podcast recording.

How to book a schedule to use the Semi Pro Studio?

Like any other room in the library, you go to the Outlook and then book it in the Outlook calendar. Read the instruction here.

When your booking is accepted, there will be a confirmation email from the room with some instructions on how to borrow pens/ TV remote and also contact information of the person in charge of this room in case you need support.

Steps

  1. Book the studio in advance
  2. Plan your video content
  3. Create a Storyboard and/or Shooting Script
  4. Prepare your presenter, slides or script
  5. Communicate and work closely with the technical support
  6. Practice and always do a test video
  7. Film in small segments
  8. Edit video and share

Semi-Pro Room Regulations

  1. General library rules also apply to the use of the semi-professional studio
  2. Available Time: Monday to Friday: 08:30- 17:30. Friday and Sunday: Unavailable (except for Saturday working days). The maximum period of a booking is 02 hours per session, 02 sessions per day. Booking should be made at least 03 days in advance. (Booking will be canceled and released for others to use if you arrived later than 10 minutes).
  3. Do not use the Semi-Pro room without training. Use the studio with at least one technical supporter
  4. Be aware of all cables, camera pedestals. monitor stands and microphone accessories. Always watch for neglect or misuse and ensure proper handling to prevent damage.
  5. Do not adjust, operate or change equipment settings unless instructed to do so. The instructor, studio assistant, engineer or production coordinator will advise you if any changes in equipment settings.
  6. Removing documentations, installing software, modifying the system setting, or destroying codes which may cause damage for computers and devices are prohibited.
  7. Do not arbitrarily move or take any property installed in room without permission. Immediately notify staff in charge of the studio when detecting any failure or unusual problems.
  8. After recording, users should ensure the room is neat and tidy, put everything back in its place, turn off the light and air conditioner. Close the sound-proof door gently. Return the key to the Library as instructed.
  9. Take care of your own personal belongings. All personal belongings may not be left unattended.

Useful tips and suggestion:

  • Planning can be as important as the shoot itself
  • Avoid booking at last minutes and film in rush
  • Outline your goals, identify your target audience, and customize the suitable content.
  • You should have a good idea of what the finished product is going to look like long before you arrive at your location
  • Before you even think about getting your camera equipment ready, consider putting a storyboard and shooting script together
  • Make sure all documents are well prepared and inform your presenters or interviewees/interviewers to know what’s expected of them.
  • Film short takes which will help you with fewer content and more opportunities to reshoot something you didn’t like.
