Circulation

Patrons can borrow books and other physical materials from the library for a specific period. To get more information about borrowing privileges, please click here.

To borrow books, patrons can use two self-check machines on the 1st and 2nd floor. To borrow other materials, patrons can contact the librarian directly at the Circulation desk on the 1st floor. Instructions on how to operate the self-check machines for book borrowing can be found by clicking here.

Renew

The library offers a renewal service that allows patrons to extend the due date of borrowed materials, affording them additional time for reading and mitigating the risk of overdue items. The renewal period is equivalent to half of the original loan period. Patrons can renew books once either online via the library’s website or in person using the self-check machines located on the 1st or 2nd floor of the library, provided the items are not overdue or requested by other patrons. Instructions on how to renew books can be accessed here.

Return

Patrons MUST return or renew all borrowed materials before their overdue time. Patrons need to inform library staff at the circulation desk about any damage to the materials before borrowing/returning.

Books can be returned at the 24/7 book return machine located next to the main gate of the library on the 1st floor or through the self-check machines situated on the 1st and 2nd floors. Instructions on how to use these machines for returning materials can be found by clicking here.

Request

Patrons can request books from the VinUni Library online library catalogue. Requests will take one to two business days. They will be notified by e-mail when their items are ready for pick up. Up-to-date status reports are also available in their library account. Patrons can collect their requested items either from the VinUni Library circulation counter or using the self-check machines. Requested items will be held for two days for them to pick up. Instruction on how to request books can be accessed here.

Equipment loans

Equipment can be borrowed during 1 working day. Due time is 15 minutes before library’s closing time.

Equipment overdue for more than 05 days will be considered lost, and the borrower will be charged for a replacement.

Equipment must be returned directly to the library and received by a library staff at the circulation desk on the first floor. The library reserves the right to recall equipment for regular maintenance or for any reason the librarian may deem appropriate.

All mercies regarding fines and loan periods need to be approved by university senior leaders.
