One Button Studio Room (OBS)

What is OBS?

The One Button Studio is an automated, simplified video studio. All of the lighting, audio, and video equipment is already in place so no set-up is required.

Allow people without any previous video production experience still can make their own videos.

What can you do with the OBS room?

A presentation video, a well-edited video or some self-recording are all done by OBS. With 3 modes:

  1. Lecture with PPT: Video captures the presenter and the presentation deck similar to watching an in -class lecture. One 75 inch touch screen is available to show the PPT file. ​
  2. Animated presentation: two to three presenters engaged in an interview session similar to watching a talk show on TV​.
  3. Lecture with Lightboard: Video captures a headshot or body – shot of the presenter delivering a message, speech or brief talk in front of the lightboard​.

 Just simply plugs a flash drive into a USB port, pushes a button to start recording, and then delivers the prepared speech, demo, interview, musical performance, or other contents.​ Please click Guiding to use OBS room to read the instructions to record videos with OBS room.

How to book a schedule to use the OBS room.

Like any other room in the library, you go to the Outlook and then book it in the Outlook calendar. You can read the instructions here.

When your booking is accepted, there will be a confirmation email from the room with some instructions on how to borrow pens/ TV remote and also contact information of the person in charge of this room in case you need support.

OBS Usage Regulations

  1. Terms of Use: Access to the OBS room is granted to those who have knowledge and understanding of the terms of use and are proficient in operating OBS equipment.
  2. Booking Requirement: You have to book OBS room before you can use,  the booking is based on the “first come, first served” rule. The maximum period of a booking is 02 hours per session, 02 sessions per day.(Booking will be canceled and released for others to use if you arrived later than 10 minutes)
  3. Equipment Care: All equipment, devices, and hardware in the OBS must always be handled with care.
  4. No Food or Drinks: It is strictly prohibited to bring food and/or drinks inside the One-Button Studio.
  5. No Smoking: Smoking is not allowed within the One-Button Studio premises.
  6. Equipment and Supplies: Under no circumstances should any equipment, iPads, or supplies be removed from the OBS.
  7. Guests with Permission: Non-VinUni personnel may only enter the OBS with prior permission.
  8. Occupancy Limit: The maximum occupancy for the room is set at 5 individuals at any given time.
  9. Respect for Scheduled Sessions: Do not enter the OBS when it is in use by another individual. If you have a scheduled session, please knock on the door, and await a response.
  10. Safety Notification: As a safety measure, it is essential to inform at least one other person about your plan to use the OBS.

Useful tips and suggestions​

  • Please bring your own USB device and a laptop or iPad if you plan to use materials you have created. Make sure that it has enough space for the video. ​
  • For optimum video quality, please wear dark colour clothing on the day of recording. Dark blue or brown and black are best.​
  • For optimum presentation quality, use PowerPoint slides that have a dark background. ​
  • For optimum presentation readability, use font styles that are not complicated or too stylistic. Arial, Sans Serif, Verdana and Tahoma are acceptable. Use font size 22 and up for text content and font size 28 and up for titles or headings. ​
  • It is highly recommended that you practice your lecture/presentation at least once, and have your notes well organised before recording it. ​
  • Record your video in segments of no longer than 10-15 minutes. You can Stop and Start as many times as you would like. ​

Notice

After recording: ​

  • Erase all the writings on the Light Board completely after recording. ​
  • Put everything back in its place as you found it (we will check everyday)​
  • Take your computer, USB drive and other personal items with you. VinUniversity will not be responsible for lost or stolen items left behind in the OBS. ​
  • Turn the lights and AC off as you leave. ​

* NOTE: The OBS user is responsible for the use of the OBS and may be held liable for damage or missing materials resulting from the use. Individuals who violate these terms will be disallowed from using the OBS.​
